Mission & Aim

Akdeniz University Department of Physical Education and Sports was established in 1993. Today, education and training continues at undergraduate and graduate levels in our department, which includes the Department of Physical Education and Sports Education and the Department of Psycho-Social Fields in Sports.
Our department continues its work in the fields of sports pedagogy, motor behavior, physical fitness, physical activity and health, psycho-social areas in sports and educational sciences (program development in education, educational management and planning, measurement and evaluation in education).

To find, apply and develop relevant methods to ensure that they are trained as educators who understand the success conditions required by modernity. The aim of the physical education teaching department is to help children and young people in need of special education express themselves through physical education activities, providing scientific support and resources on curious topics related to physical education to individuals who love physical education activities to the society, improving human relations and trying to ensure social integration in line with the Fair Play approach. To train physical education teachers who integrate with the contemporary world, who develop their ability to work and share together, and who contribute to the physical, mental, social and emotional development of individuals in all age groups, with the department management approach that places the understanding of physical education lessons in educational institutions.
